OTTO BAUMBERGER (1889-1961) IV. INTERNATIONALES FLUGMEETING ZÜRICH. 1937.
49 3/4x35 1/4 inches, 126 1/4x89 1/2 cm. J.C. Müller, Zurich.
Condition A-. Mounted on thin white board. Framed.
"With the outbreak of World War II on the horizon, the fourth International Aviation Meeting became an opportunity for soon-to-be fighting countries to compare their military aircraft side by side. Although previous air shows were replete with examples of the latest advances in commercial aircraft, the focus switched to planes as tools of war for the 1937 event" (Crouse p. 34). The poster is a dynamic, geometric and Art Deco divergence from Baumberger's earlier Object Posters – advertising an event rather than a product. This is the German version. Baumberger 201 (var), Crouse p. 35 (var), Histoire de l'Aviation p. 135 (var), MoMA 410.1985.
