A hearty bale of hay and farmers on their tractors, representing the natural bounty and opportunity of the New World, with a White Star ship in the background. This poster pre-dates 1934, which was when the White Star Line and Cunard merged. Most of the encouragement for new settlers to move to Canada came from the Canadian Pacific Railway Company who, as one of the largest landowners in the Canadian Northwest, had the most to gain by new immigration. They advertised aggressively throughout Europe, attempting to get immigrants to North America to board trains and head further West. But trans-Atlantic travel was a competitive business, as seen by this German poster published for the parent company of the ill-fated Titanic.
