Colin had some experience designing posters to promote book publishing and this small image for the Union of French Booksellers features a similar graphic conceit to some of the others (see the Chassaing Collection, Swann Auction #1978, lot 57.) A simple and efficient image, with books stacked or floating, against a dark background, being presented as the perfect "Etrennes" (New Year's Gift).
