The first International Poster exhibition organized by the Secession was held in 1912. It was comprised of works from the collections of two avid art enthusiasts: Ottokar Maschka, who wrote the preface to the catalogue, and Otto Pollak. The exhibition contained 357 posters (twenty of which are reproduced here in black and white), as well as some original studies for posters and architectural drawings. Harlfinger's design for the cover of the catalogue was also used on the poster for the exhibition. The poster and this catalogue are often misdated 1913 (the correct date is 1912).
