R.O. BLECHMAN (1930- ) / THE INK TANK
Homeless Homer, Dogs and Cats Animation Cel Setup.

Multiple animation cel and background setup (most likely key master) for an animal welfare commercial, circa 1980. Watercolor and ink on acetate. 246x308 mm; 9¾x12¼ inches.

An adorable depiction of Homeless Homer and his canine and feline friends from a commercial for an animal welfare organization. The commercial was produced at The Ink Tank, the New York City-based animation studio founded by celebrated illustrator and cartoonist R.O. Blechman. The elaborate image features thirteen animal characters on meticulously hand-inked and tinted cel cutouts over a watercolor background, and is a very faithful translation of Blechman's unmistakable style of art.
