ROGER BRODERS (1883-1953)

VILLARD DE LANS / DAUPHINÉ / LE PARADIS DES ENFANTS. Circa 1938.

40x24¾ inches, 101½x62¾ cm. Imp. Generale, Grenoble.
Condition B+: small losses and repaired tears at edges; creases and abrasions in margins and image; ink handwriting in bottom right text and corner.

In this poster, Broders focuses on the child-friendly nature of the area more than its natural beauty. This is the later variant with the SNCF logo, rather than the original PLM, as well as the rows of visitors streaming in from the upper right. He also changed some of the faces of the children as well as their outfits. The SNCF (France's national railway) was founded in 1938.

Broders p. 14 & 63, Perry / Broders p. 72, Hillion p. 178 (all var).
