Color woodcut on Japan paper, 1955. 457x610 mm; 18x24 inches, full margins. A very good impression of this extremely scarce, early woodcut.
We have not found another impression at auction in the past 25 years.
This woodcut and the proceeding two lots were a gift from the artist to Tony Bacon, thence by descent to the current owner. Lewitt and Bacon served together in the Korean War; Lewitt sent the prints as a wedding gift to the Bacons in 1955.
With a letter from Sol Lewitt referencing the prints, dated June 14, envelope postmarked "15 June 1975." Krakow 1955.02.
