Edward Sorel (born Edward Schwartz) has long been a major American political cartoonist. His politics have generally been Leftist so his loose, lively drawings have been welcomed by The Nation, The National Lampoon, Ramparts and The Village Voice among many other publications. He sold over forty covers to The New Yorker. He established famed design studio Push Pin Studios with Milton Glaser, Seymour Chwast and Reynold Ruffins in 1953, and served as art director of New York Magazine in the late 1970s. He has supplied murals to the Waverly Inn as well as to the Monkey Bar. 1976
