We would like to thank Professor Henry Adams for his assistance with this catalogue entry. Based on a photograph, he stated that this work was painted by Benton in the early 1920s on Martha's Vineyard. He indicates that a similar group of paintings that had belonged to Charles Pollock (Jackson's brother) were handled by Salander-O'Reilly Galleries, New York, in the mid-1980s.
