WALT DISNEY STUDIOS / 101 DALMATIONS
Cruella DeVil and Nanny Animation Cel Setup 1961.

Art Corner animation cel setup from the classic Disney feature, 101 Dalmatians. 257x306 mm; 10x12 inches. Includes a print background derived from the film and the gold COA sticker au verso, as issued.

The cel setup features a deliciously diabolical image of Cruella paired with a defiant, good-natured Nanny, who serves as a perfect counterpoint to the villain in this image. The cel was originally sold at the Disneyland Art Corner. It was standard practice for Art Corner cel setups to be assembled in a haphazard fashion, often as combinations of cels from vastly different scenes, or even productions. Considering this, it is very unusual that these cels are from the same scene, appearing within a few seconds of each other. This is arguably one the best Cruella DeVil images that has ever come to the market.

Condition: Minor paint wear at the bottom of Cruella's coat, which does not detract from the image, and (as is the case with most Art Corner cels) some paint adherence to the background.

Additional Details

The matching scene appears after Roger revives dalmatian puppy number 15 (later named Lucky), and Cruella bursts into the house to inspect the puppies. Upon seeing the adorable newborn Lucky, she exclaims in disgust: "They're mongrels! ...No spots at all! What a horrid little white rat." [Where the Cruella cel appears, at 19 min 54 sec.] Nanny, protectively clutching Lucky, retorts: "They're not mongrels! They'll get their spots [where her cel appears at 19 min 58 sec]-- just wait and see!"
