WILDE, OSCAR. Autograph Letter Signed, to George C. Haité ("My Dear Haité"), telling him that [Edwin] Bale cannot use his drawings for initial letters. 2 pages, 8vo, written on the recto and verso of a single sheet, "Cassell & Company" stationery; some soiling at folds, uneven toning on recto affecting signature, short closed tears at edges. London, [1887-89]
"Bale tells me that he has such a collection of initial letters in stock unused that he cannot accept your kind offer of your very charming drawings. "The process by which they are reproduced seems to me excellent . . . ." Between 1887 and 1889, Wilde edited a magazine--given the title Woman's World by Wilde himself--for the publishers Cassell & Co.
