Purchased Joseph Faulkner, Main Street Galleries, Chicago, 1983, by the current owner, with a copy of the original invoice. The men in the study are wearing hats that were popular in Victorian fashion of the late 1800s, notably the Derby style hat which is repeated on three of the heads.
