(SLAVERY AND ABOLITION.) NEW YORK. Slave sale document: "Wherein Peter Bellen of the City of New York sells a Negro man named Anthony to Samuel Carman of Hempstead for the sum of 100 pounds." Single folio leaf, partially printed document accomplished by hand, creases where folded and a few holes at those creases; both result on some loss of letters, but still understandable in context. Signed by both parties and the magistrate with the official seal. Ink note on the reverse regarding this sale, signed once again by Bellen. New York, 1786

Additional Details

an early new york slave sale document. We could find little on Peter Bellen, but Samuel Carman was a Dutch-American yeoman on Long Island.
