Third European edition, first state. This stereotype edition contained many revisions from the 1849 second European edition (omitting its errata leaf at pages v-vi), and was used for all subsequent editions through 1876. 5000 copies were printed. Crawley 718; Flake 2866. Provenance: Signed twice in 1867 by Samuel Swanner, quite likely the Samuel Swanner (1852-1941) who had come west with his family to Utah circa 1863, and then settled in Teton Basin, Idaho. He may have carried this volume on the trail west. In the rear of the volume is a signature of Hannah Corbridge, possibly Hannah Lee Corbridge (1847-1922) of Franklin County, ID. The volume was acquired from an Idaho dealer.
