Additional Details

the rare first public printing of the law ending slavery in the british possessions. This volume was published almost immediately after the Act was passed. Sadly William Wilberforce, who had devoted a good portion of his life to the elimination of slavery, died on July 29, 1833, a year before the Act went into effect in August of 1834. 1832-1833 also saw a serious change to how members of Parliament were elected, called the Reform Act, which is referred to in the introduction of this volume.
