first edition. While the author claims her work has no bearing on slavery pro or con, Zamba tells the story of a slave uprising on the island of Martinique from a decidedly anti-slavery point of view. Elizabeth Stryker Ricord (1788-1865) is considered to be a pioneer in psychology and wrote the first comprehensive textbook on the subject by a woman.
