I was informed that the mexican gov't are building five large frigates & a number of sloops of War & are looking out for an Admiral & Captains--The Command even of a frigate in that Service would be better than the realization of any of your projects--get your friend G. to speak of you to the Mexi'n Minister & then get introduced to him."
Reid (1783-1861) was the designer of the present form of the American flag.
