Evocative, painterly, almost impressionistic, Cardinaux, in his simple, bold stlye, depicts an Alpine golf round and a pic-nic. One of two in a series he did for the famous resort hotel, the other, a winter scene, depicts skaters around an ice rink. In both, employing casual grace and compelling composition, Cardinaux depicts tableaux, which while not directly promoting the hotel being advertised, nevertheless create a mood, a style, a fashion statement which clearly reflects on the manner of people who stay in such an establishment.
